Glass reinforced plastic has been around since the second world war. It has be subjected to constant improvement and scientific testing since its inception and now offers some of the most diverse and durable properties available. When compared with similar weighted materials such as wood and metals, glass reinforced plastic can offer striking design with a higher fidelity and lower cost.

Being microwave transparent it was originally used as a construction material for the protective housing of sensitive radar equipment on military vehicles such as planes and ships. After the war, glass fibre was adopted by the boat manufacturing industry and its use quickly spread to other areas.
